Will An AUTHENTIC Christian Walk Out Of Your CoronaVirus Cave?

Spiritual Growth

Just in from our global online tribe is the following question which is representative of several hundred others: How do we know what to pray for and concentrate on during the CoronaVirus crisis?

There is no specific “answer” to that question, but the general response would be to GROW CLOSER TO CHRIST. How that plays out specifically will be different for all of us. Here’s my own personal goal:

I want to crawl out of the CoronaVirus cave MORE AUTHENTIC in my faith than when I entered its cramped and constrained quarters.

The Age of Authenticity was birthed by the need to express ourselves and is most evident today on social media’s pillows billowing in the cloud.

Here’s the problem…The world hijacked the word authentic.

That left us with COUNTERFEIT AUTHENTICITY that produces photoshopped and airbrushed Christians who do not have a deep desire to know and serve Christ.

Authentic faith can be felt and seen. It has markings. Some faint. Some branded into the soul of a believer to be a witness for a watching world.

Jesus had ZERO CONFUSION about what it means to be a Christian.

“Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:20

Fruit is authentic and it does not produce counterfeit Christian currency.

Equating professing faith with possessing faith is wrong.

Being real is not achieved by going to church or attending a Bible study or being baptized.

REAL = NEW (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Real isn’t a cosmetic façade we put on. Real is tangible manifestation of being a NEW creature in Christ. Real is living with a new heart surrendered to Jesus. Real is re-racking our goals, motives, and behavior to comport with Christ.

I ask God to remind me every day, especially during this CoronaVirus crisis, that growing closer to him and being ever-more authentic in my faith are the top priorities in my life right now.

“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.” Luke 6:43–44

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
