Another day of post-surgery reflection had me thinking about the world’s misguided notion of wisdom and how much debilitating power that has to destroy lives on earth and preclude them from heaven and eternity.
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and set aside the understanding of the scholars.” 1 Corinthians 1:19
The gospel, not human wisdom, is the power and promise of God. This “Good News” has always been, and will always be, foolishness to those who do not believe. They simply lock out the message and move on in life.
In contrast, the message of Christ has always been, and will always be, a true and dependable foundation that serves as a comforting and compelling north star for those who believe. Those who are engulfed by the Holy Spirit and receive the gospel are recipients of this gift and all of its glorious benefits for eternity.
GOD WANTS MORE!
God wants people to go far beyond recognizing that he exists! He wants to save people from the devil’s evil clutch. And for good reason. Human wisdom and intelligence cannot save people from this evil force. In fact, every deistic skeptic has failed to save even one soul. Every single one.
But here’s the great news–you do not need great knowledge about the world to receive the benefits of God’s message, truth, and countless promises. We just need to believe, trust, and obey God.
Getting to that position requires a humble mind and spirit to embrace, in full surrender, its truth and power.
I ask God to protect me from the devil’s evil clutch and remind me that human wisdom and intelligence cannot save anyone from the enemy.
