She Thought She Could “Get Away With It”

Everything people are doing in the world today—everywhere and always–is being pilfered by smart devices and fenced at the online pawn shop and its kangaroo court.

With everyone watching everything, it’s harder to “get away” with a crime, bad behavior, or “secret sin.” But all of this exposure has not stopped us from pursuing pleasure or making bad choices without giving serious thought to the consequences.

The result? Our AUTHENTICITY IN CHRIST is emasculated, if not destroyed.

This is nothing new!

It’s just more prominent and visible today because it lives inside the world’s communication circus. And God is using it to show us, AGAIN, how helpless and empty the human heart is without Christ (Jeremiah 17:9).

But the most important part of this story is the glory we can find in God’s enduring gift of forgiveness that liberates our slavery to sin, no matter how shameful.

That gift is paid in full, but we must accept it and follow Jesus in order to escape the Enemy’s dark dungeon where he keeps the lights off to snare us in sin.

A sin held in secret does not make it any less serious or the sinner any better than others who commit “visible sins.” God sees our heart. There are no “secret sins.”

No sin—not even a whispered curse or lustful thought—is hidden from the view of God. It may only be an audience of ONE, but it’s the Lord of Heaven and earth…and he’s watching every thought we consider and every move we make.

The Bible declares that God will judge the secrets of every heart (Romans 2:16) and secret sins will not remain secret.

I ask God to reveal all of the sin in me so I can give it to him in exchange for his gift of redemptive freedom.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

We find out who we really are by looking at our true character in God’s mirror—his Word of truth that reveals the real motives of our heart. What do you see in the mirror?
