If we don’t make a small move toward God’s road, we’ll remain imprisoned on our current road. The only commitment we have to make is to begin. As Martin Luther King said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
There are no shortcuts to the top. We climb the highest mountains one step at a time. If we take the first step, God will do the rest.
If we focus on Satan the Voice Villain, we will never find joy and peace in our lives. But if we set aside that voice and focus on God’s immutable truths, we will see we need God in our lives because we aren’t God.
We don’t need a religion with prescribed codes; we need a relationship and partnership with God. We don’t need church, we need Christ. Instead of a controlled religious observance, we need to be set free.
DON’T LISTEN TO THE VOICE VILLAIN
If my surrender to God was based on the voices running through my head, Lord knows I would never have made it in a million years. Yet I committed to take that first step and begin to begin. Thank you, God.
I no longer live with that stress current plugged into my side. I live with the hope and joy that can only come from God’s incredible grace. The voices are still there, but God beats them back before they do their damage.
If I had focused on the voices and fear of the unknown, I would have been frozen in place forever and never have been lifted by a totally new purpose for living.
God cares about each one of us so much that he sent his only Son Jesus Christ to die on a cross so our sins would be forgiven and we would live for eternity. That is the message made “famous” by the guy with clown-colored hair waving his sign in the end zone.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
CLAIM THE PRIZE!
Perpetual, everlasting life is a prize worth obtaining. To claim that prize, we must turn our lives completely over to God in humble, submissive, propositional belief. God came to earth and wrapped himself in flesh as a human being, Jesus Christ. He did this to redeem (buy us back) us from our sin and bring us into heaven for eternity. His promise not only includes our future security in heaven for eternity, but also joy and peace in the present moments of our lives. The key that unlocks the door to the promise is Jesus himself, who said:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
The voice villain never made that promise, but Jesus did. Take the first step. God will do the rest.
