A Single Drop Of Poison Killed His Faith

This just in from our global tribe of over 700,000+ online followers: “I want to get the bad thoughts and motives out of my mind, but I can’t. I feel great after church and then they come back. I wonder if it’s worth fighting those feelings.”

Here’s how God has helped me deal with this issue…

Think of a POND and then picture someone on its edge pouring a gallon of poison into the azure and innocent water. The ENTIRE pond is now instantly contaminated, and the poison cannot be extracted once it has disturbed the pond’s peace.

The only way to overcome the poison’s power is to overwhelm it, over time, with FRESH WATER to flush out the contaminants. Pour good water in and eventually the bad water will wash out. But you cannot stop the fresh in-flow or the poison will reappear.

This is exactly what God wants us to do when we square off against our bad thoughts and motives. Be filled again and again with the same Holy Spirit that came into us at our conversion.

These regular infillings of the Holy Spirit that deepen our faith are what the Apostle Paul modeled in his letter to the people of Ephesus, exhorting them to “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit because otherwise we allow fear to hijack our voice that witnesses the reality of God’s Gospel and the power of Jesus.

We must call of God to block Satan from using our “bad thoughts and motives” to silence our spiritual song from reaching the ears and hearts of those lost souls who have not met Jesus.

I ask God to help me regularly infuse my soul with his Word of fresh water to cleanse my mind and actions.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Are you flushing the poison out of your life’s pond?

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” Acts 4:31

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
