IT’S HOT! Make Your Actions Your Words.

It’s hot in America right now. Blistering hot from coast to coast. The only good thing coming out of the swelter is connecting it to the action we take, or don’t take, on our faith walk.

That story, ironically, starts with rain.

The current heat wave is the kind of weather that can pelt the high desert with much-needed rain to quench its cracked and thirsty moonscape floor.

Here’s the connection between the heat, that rain, and our FAITH.

WORDS absent action are like the hollow promise of moisture-packed clouds that drift deliberately over a parched desert crying out for relief but refuse to liberate even a single raindrop.

“…let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

Our actions speak louder than words in life, but ESPECIALLY on our faith walk with Jesus. In fact, our actions should be our words, not the other way around.

It’s not a matter of MAKING our actions speak. All of our actions speak. The only question is: “what are they saying?”

We feel and then we ACT according to what we believe.

The words that flow, often carelessly, out of our untamed mouth cannot be trusted. That’s why we need to be continually taking inventory of our actions and praying to be in touch with our beliefs.

Our model for monitoring and then measuring our WORDS and ACTIONS comes from Jesus who perfected consistency between the two.

Our actions reveal the condition of our faith walk. They let people around us know who we are by our tree’s fruit (Matthew 12:33).

Our goal, of course, is to produce good fruit with our actions.

I ask God to make me conscious of the WORDS I speak, but even more vigilant in making sure my ACTIONS comport with him and his commandments.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What are your actions saying?

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
