He Searched for a “NEW NORMAL” and Came up Empty

This just in from our global tribe of 600,000 online followers: What should I pray for while waiting for things to get back to the way they were before the pandemic hit?

This is a fair question that everyone on the planet is considering. But it can be dangerous if along the way we fear everything and fantasize about a normalcy that will never be found.

That is certainly the case now as the world walks the COVID-19 tightrope on the basis of a silly “NEW NORMAL” slogan.

God wants us to persevere through this COVID-19 predicament because it is not normal or abnormal. It is nothing more than the life God describes and then defeats in his Word.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

Let’s go back to the world’s fascination with returning to this so-called NEW NORMAL.

We are not striving to reach an idealized sense of NORMAL that our mind creates and our heart adopts. We’re merely headed for the next phase of life.

Life is a journey through PHASES that are neither normal nor abnormal. Each builds on and animates the other as we hit our knees every day and surrender to God.

Here’s the danger in longing for NORMALCY: It has us looking in vain for an alignment of circumstances. Work, family, celebrations, routine, security, certainty, and the rest of it.

God’s view of normalcy is trusting him NO MATTER WHAT the circumstances may be.

I ask God to keep me grounded in HIS unfolding normal

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Are you looking for a NEW NORMAL? Or are you going to God for his direction in and through the PHASES of life? Especially right now as we travel through a deep valley with COVID-19.

“For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future.” Romans 8:38

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
