Why Do My Plans Need God’s Approval?

When we commit our work to the Lord, we offer every part of our life to him so he can “establish and approve” our plans on his rock-firm foundation.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 NIV

The first part—COMMITTING—is on us. The other part—ESTABLISHING (“cause to happen”)—is for God.

We must do part one if we expect God to fulfill part two.

The result of our commitment and God’s establishment is an alignment of our work and God’s will. The product of that powerful combination leads to our success in accordance with the Lord’s perfect plan.

This is the way God wants it to be!

He wants us to serve him faithfully and then leave the outcome in his capable hand. In this way, God approves and propels our plans forward with his seal of approval.

Committing our plans to God is surrendering them to his will. Trusting that he will be glorified. And recognizing that we do not have the power to determine our future.

God longs to empower us to carry out our plans and then bless the result. But it is never for our own selfish ambition (James 3:16); and always for our eternal benefit and God’s glory (Romans 8:28).

Committing our plans to God and being positioned to receive his blessings starts with a more important commitment—committing our life to the God of Heaven and earth.

I ask God to help me commit everything in my life to him and to his glory. May my plan be his will. My goal be his grace. My destination be his purpose.

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
