What’s your favorite pairing?

Peanut Butter & Jelly? Hamburgers & Fries? Scooby Doo & Shaggy? Movies & Popcorn?

There are many more choices, of course, but missing from the short list above is one of the most powerful archetypes in history–the PAIRING of evil with darkness and goodness with light.

Darkness is a trap and light is a safety chute to life as God intended it to be. It’s that “simple.” Take a look at how the Apostle Paul warned the people in Corinth of the deceptive trap of darkness:

“…Even Satan can disguise himself to look like an angel of light!  15 So it is no great thing if his servants disguise themselves to look like servants of righteousness. In the end they will get exactly what their actions deserve.” 2 Corinthians 11:14-15

It is ironic but true that Satan capitalizes on our love of light to carry out his nefarious mission to deceive. Absent the light, people will inevitably drift toward the dark. This is why Satan’s malevolent masquerade as an angel of light is so effective.

That makes sense because most people are drawn to light, not darkness. No wonder the evil one poses as a beacon of light and offers pleasure and comfort. Showing himself as a scary creature would make it hard to lure people into his lair.

HOW DO WE STAY IN THE LIGHT?

Why do we fall for Satan’s crafty gambit baiting us toward his darkness?

We either do not know or have forgotten GOD’S TRUTHS.

Everyone is vulnerable to living in darkness if they search for truth anywhere but in God’s Word

I ask God to help me to always be vigilant to look for signs that I have allowed the darkness to steal his light.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Are you looking for signs that darkness is creeping in on God’s light over your life?

“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” Revelation 12:9

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
