Another great question just came in from our global online tribe: “My issue Mr. Affleck is about work. How does God have anything to do with my job?”
It starts with our MOTIVATION. Our work is HOLY in God’s eyes because of our faith in him, not the job itself. We are motivated to seek God’s glory in and through our work.
Working for anything else will end in disappointment. Our work will become a worldly transaction of time in exchange for reward. Our focus will inevitably turn to wealth and status and position and power. Where else can it go?
And where it ends up—and what we end up with–is something we should strive to avoid at all costs. That frantic and often painful chase will never be enough to satisfy our deep hunger for significance. NEVER.
First, it’s a matter of STEWARDSHIP.
God designed work for his glory and our satisfaction. Christians are stewards who invest their gifts in the work God has blessed them with and do their jobs as an expression of who God is in and through their life.
Second, it’s a matter of OBEDIENCE.
Christians work in obedience to God, not money. Compensation for our toil is God rewarding our obedience to him. That means job satisfaction is determined by our obedience, not our paycheck.
Third, it’s a matter of TRUST.
Our work is less about what we do and more about who we trust. Less about motive and more about action. Less about a career and more about our character in Christ.
Finally, it’s a matter of WITNESSING.
Our work is a platform to share God’s Good News. Period. End of story.
I ask God to remind me that my work is always part of my ministry.

Does God go to work with you?
