Fear Is A Liar Who Wants To Hijack Your Wait

Waiting is a ferocious foe that induces fear. Waiting patiently is a herculean challenge that feeds fear. And waiting without being full of fear is impossible without God.

Fear is a liar that empowers our enemy and wants to steal our ability to wait on God.

Realizing that we will never understand everything should bring us patience knowing that God will deal with the unknown and EVENTUALLY reveal his will if we wait patiently.

Things will not happen right away, but they will happen “on time.” And even though we may have been praying for an earlier resolution, our questions will finally calm down and fade away, like a long rain eventually yielding to God’s flash of color in the sky.

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3

If you’re like me, you no doubt wrestle with this immutable truth from God’s Word. I could give you many examples in my life that were “late,” and I’ll bet you can, too. But in every case, I have been able to see God’s perfect will.

We get direction from God each day, but the full majesty of his will for our life comes into focus over time. Like the sun’s searing summer heat on the desert floor, the questions will never retreat. But this is yet another reason for us to spend time in God’s Word every day—to get that day’s direction!

The bottom line? It is much easier to wait patiently when the level of fear is dialed down in our life.

I ask God to help me fight off the enemy’s use of fear to keep me from being content in my wait for him.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Is fear hijacking your ability to wait patiently for God?

“Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.” Proverbs 27:14
