The world has STOPPED as if someone hit PAUSE during a NETFLIX blockbuster. And every Christian on the planet needs to STOP right now, too.
What began with a cold-blooded homicide in Minneapolis has exploded into mayhem. Protesters and Police. Looters and larcenists.
That’s sad, of course. But we need to STOP trying to analyze the differences between the protesters (GOD BLESS THEM) and the anarchists (GOD SAVE THEM).
The question is not whether they are different. The question is what produced the CONDITIONS for them to explode in the cinema of our society.
The answer is the SAME for both protesters and anarchists—HATE.
Of course it is RACISM. But racism is born out of HATE, the opposite of LOVE.
The hearts of Christians around the world are breaking. That naturally (and thankfully) makes Christians everywhere wonder WHAT SHOULD I DO.
That’s what prompted this devotional’s STOP headline.
We need to STOP trying to figure everything out. STOP trying to fix the problem. STOP trying to do things to assuage our guilt.
Yes, we need to STOP and ACTIVATE OUR FAITH before we hit START on the much-needed RESPONSE.
Our racially-divided chasm will not be closed by:
- Panels on racism, though that is IMPERATIVE.
- Black/white interaction, though that is IMPERATIVE.
- Protest, though that is IMPERATIVE.
Our racially-divided chasm will be solved when an army of spirit-filled Christians have activated their faith and started marching through every town on the planet sowing seeds of love.
That will change every conversation. Every interchange. Every heart.
There are three stages to this challenge: STOP. SILENT. START.
This blog covered STOP. Next we’ll tackle SILENCE with God. Then we’ll hit START and begin moving toward action.
The world has PAUSED to wait for us to ACTIVATE OUR FAITH.
I ask God to touch the hearts of Christians everywhere with the need to stop trying to figure everything out and, instead, run toward him in full surrender. Inspire us all to activate our faith in preparation for taking action that will replace the world’s HATE with his LOVE.
