I Can Carry My Own Burdens, Thank You

It was early in my faith walk and I was full of hubris and false confidence that I could vanquish any burden that came my way. And I was wrong. Here’s the story…

If there is one thing we can count on…we will be treated unjustly in almost every one of the roles we play in life. And the BURDENS that result will not be limited to a season here and a season there. They will be visiting our life forever.

You know what burdens feel like, right? Of course you do. They make our hearts feel heavy and consume our life with soul-eating anxiety. They happen at home. At work. At play. Everywhere it seems.

These burdens MUST be given to God immediately after they appear on the scene to hijack our mood and impede our walk with Christ.

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22

Yep…we need to let God carry our burdens and settle the injustices we encounter. Why would we consider any other approach when he has committed to be there for us now and forever?

It all starts with HUMILITY and a deliberate move to cast our cares and anxiety on God by admitting our mistakes.

Humility is the risk of being ignored, mocked, and rejected. And it is PAINFUL! But God wants to be our burden bearer and intervene when we are under siege.

We can take his promise to the bank because he sees and knows everything. For me, I ask God to give me strength to trust him to carry my burdens and settle the injustices I face along the road of life.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

When was the last time you cast a burden on the Lord?

“Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.” Philippians 4:6

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
