Why Believe The BEST In Others When YOU are BETTER?

ARROGANCE in man is ABHORRENT, especially when it produces judgmental thoughts of grand superiority that “LOOK DOWN” on others.

It gets worse.

Being arrogant with that kind of judgment has an evil twin and master chameleon hiding in plain sight. What is it? A barrier to believing the best in people that OVERLOOKS their good and ELEVATES the “bad.”

This scourge shows up in unspoken thoughts that go something like this: “I am definitely a sinner; but thank God I’m not as bad as that sinner.”

Here’s the hard, cold reality that comes with our failure to see the best in people:
It has NOTHING to do with them and EVERYTHING to do with us and our heart for GOD. It uses our identity as a child of God to devalue that very same status in another precious soul. It puts us on a slippery slope that eventually devolves into hatred.

We KNOW it’s wrong, but it is imperative to continually remind ourselves WHY it’s wrong:
It’s wrong because the God who created us and saved our soul from darkness is the same God who made the human we are cursing.

It gets worse.

Every minute we fail to believe the best in others is time we are overlooking our sinful nature and forgetting that every good thing about us came from GOD.

It gets worse.

Failure to see the best in others means we have forgotten how God transformed OUR heart. Even more destructive is how it questions God’s promise to work in their heart and the power of the Holy Spirit to transform THEM.

The secret to seeing the best in others is acknowledging what God has done in us.

Father God: Remind me that how I love others, especially other believers, shows how much I love you and demonstrates how much of a hold you have over my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

At some point today, maybe right now, think about how much and how often YOU see the BEST in other people. 100% of the time? 70% of the time? 40% of the time? 10% of the time? NEVER?

“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
