You Cannot Fake Showing Up

Preparing for the late-July launch of my new book on AMAZON has brought many reader comments to my attention. The most common goes something like this:

“I want to activate my faith, but I keep putting it off.”  There was one that even wrote: “It’s on my bucket list.”

These comments remind me of a FACTORY PRODUCTION LINE that has boxes stacking up on an overwhelmed conveyer belt. The congestion eventually causes everything to spill over the edge and tumble to an unforgiving floor. The resulting delay pushes what must be done into a compressed time period.

Failing to ACTIVATE OUR FAITH is just like that scene in the factory.

Putting off ACTIVATING OUR FAITH forces us to “FAKE IT.” And since activating our faith requires that we show up and START, we CANNOT fake showing up.

There are consequences to FAKING the activation of our faith. Whatever we put off today is forced into a compressed time window tomorrow. What’s at stake? Maximizing our potential in Christ and using what he has given us to tell others about him during our life on earth.

Most believers readily admit they fall short of the ideal when it comes to stewardship of time and activating their faith. While we would not call it “wasting time,” we feel bad about not doing what God wants us to do.

Making matters worse, and much more challenging, is the reality that Satan is using our propensity to FAKE OUR FAITH as his chokehold to minimize our eternal contribution to the Kingdom of God. He is the GREAT INTERRUPTER and we give him an opening to attack when fake our faith.

The only way to fight through this “action apathy” is to know that delays in fully activating our faith are not from God. Of course we don’t feel like we’re ready and we probably aren’t!  But God will teach us as we go because we will NEVER feel like we are ready! And if we allow that to be the case, we will never even start.

For me, I ask God to help me take action to ACTIVATE MY FAITH on a regular basis and not allow procrastination to hinder my spiritual growth and capacity to serve him and his Kingdom—no matter how I am feeling at the time.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Is your faith activated? Are you sure?

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 16:24-25

“As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me; night is coming when no one can work. John 9:4
