Some of you are at the CROSSROADS of life RIGHT NOW. For others, it is looming just ahead. For all of us, we will hit that junction at some point and then face it again and again.
In fact, we find ourselves standing at the CROSSROADS of life more now than ever before. What used to happen every few years now happens every few months when we hit the CROSSROADS of faith, family, career, relationships, ministry, health, and more.
The velocity of life in the 21st Century produces more CROSSROADS and more choices–A or B, left or right, up or down, forward or back, fight or flight, in or out.
It’s important to state here that we will never become experts at CROSSROADS decision-making because we do not control our circumstances. God does.
That’s why we must acknowledge God’s sovereignty over us at the CROSSROADS. Why we must seek his wisdom through his Word at the CROSSROADS. Why we must listen for discernment from the Holy Spirit at the CROSSROADS.
Doing this does not mean we will make the best decision at the CROSSROADS. There must also be prayerful introspection. I ask these two questions in response to that reality:
- Does my relationship with Jesus drive the choice I make and are my words and actions Christlike?
- Will people watching me wonder if my CROSSROADS choice “squares” with my faith profession?
Thriving through the CROSSROADS starts and ends when we put our full trust in God.
This is an imperative if we are to remain open to hearing anything from God. Even if, on the surface, it sounds negative or runs counter to what we thought the direction should be.
I ask God to help me base every CROSSROADS decision I make on his Word and direction.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
How do you make decisions at the CROSSROADS of your life?
“Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths and where the best road is. Walk in it, and you will live in peace.” Jeremiah 6:16
