I have forgiven them, I promise!
OK, fair enough…but then why are you still fighting the battle to be “right” or “make them pay” or to “get justice” as if they were sitting in a chair staring at you from across the room.
As I rev today’s early morning motor, a warm burst of air is taking the chill off my space and set the soundtrack on low with its steady and soothing hum. It’s a perfect backdrop to focus on my relationship with God and move past the painful episodes in my life where I have forgiven those who wronged me but continue to fight for “victory” over it and them.
God wants us to shut down this fight before its contagion infects our soul by seeking his perspective so we can learn from the experience and leave it behind.
Not every battle is worth fighting. Sometimes we need to say: “This hill is not the hill to fall on.”
I ask God to keep me constantly aware of any battles I continue to fight after I have forgiven someone.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you fighting any battles that should have ended when you went through the forgiveness gate?
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
