“Waiting Is The Hardest Part” TOM PETTY

Spiritual Growth

That was the late, great Tom Petty’s timeless and probing line from his 1981 mega-hit “The Waiting.”

He was right then and it’s still true today–waiting is the hardest part because we’re living in the age of NOW. Impatience is our weakness that needs everything to go according to our plan.

Patience demands incredible INNER STRENGTH that can only come from God. It’s the strength that Paul preached to the thirsty souls in Colossae to equip them with the patience they would need to live a Christ-like life in a world that breeds impatience.

Patience is not an optional virtue for followers of Christ because faith is not optional.

Patience is the fruit of faith. It is a commitment to wait for God while we obey or to hang on while he guides us along his path to obedience.

Patience is humility’s friend and the enemy of pride.

The battle against impatience is a battle against unbelief that can only be won when the Word of God is loaded into our heart and head.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

What do you need God’s help on to turn the unbelief of impatience to the full expression of Christ-like patience?

I ask God to help me continually remember and emulate the “perfect patience” of Christ that we learn about in his Word (1 Timothy 1:16).

“Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience…” Colossians 1:11

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
