The Good Fear?

February 11, 2018
Spiritual Growth

Christians know from first-hand and painful experience all about the pervasive and destructive power of fear. They know it can have a dramatic impact on how we look at, and react to, the world. And they know it can only be vanquished through Christ.

But there’s a healthy version—fear of the Lord—that allows us to incinerate the lies peeking out of the darkness. It is a healthy respect for God that grounds our faith and keeps us moving toward ever-more spiritual growth.

Healthy and fearless Christians don’t cower…they stiffen. No matter the world throws their way, they push forward…attack…fight. And they never give in to fear’s destructive dance.

We must never forget this healthy fear of the Lord and the dependence on him that it produces. If we do that, it will lead to reverence and praise. Most importantly, it will always have us in a more intimate relationship with an awesome God.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

When fear takes over and uncertainty moves in, it’s not time to give up. It’s time to give it all to God.

I ask God to help me maintain a healthy fear of him that destroys the lies that can lead to fear and doubt.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
