I Lived Just Like My Drink Order at Starbucks

Spiritual Growth

Keeping our options open with God to avoid making “uncomfortable” spiritual commitments will NOT make us “free.”

The god of OPEN CHOICE is a saboteur who promises us that keeping our options open will lead to everything we want. But in the end we wind up at the doorstep of the OPEN CHOICE false god with nothing.

This is the moment of truth where we choose–or decline—to follow God, stop living for ourselves, and start living like Jesus.

Going to Starbucks for a two-shot cap with extra foam at 140 degrees, soy skinny with four pumps of vanilla is fine–barely :)–but that’s not the kind of choice that really matters for a believer.

The living God–the loving, triune God–did not create us to keep our options open.

We must face the immutable truth of choice that God puts on a believer’s heart each day as the sun sneaks over the horizon’s collar.

If we choose the god of OPEN CHOICE, we preclude the option to choose God, the one who deliberately closed off his own options in order to save our life.

There is nothing that will clarify our options like visualizing Jesus nailed to a stiff wooden cross.

I ask God to guide me to his sovereignty and goodness. To help me commit to be single-minded about choosing him. To revel in his choices.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

What choices are you wrestling with God about today that need to be dealt with now?

“God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.” 1 Corinthians 1:27

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
