Early in my faith walk I thought the Bible was nothing more than a passive summary of God’s truths. I had no idea it was actually an active and inspired roadmap to find our purpose in life.
God set me straight with this . . .
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 GNT
God made it crystal clear to me that to learn about his plan for my life I must know the Holy Scriptures. Paul was imploring Timothy—and us!—to clutch God’s Word tightly for at least three reasons:
ONE: It’s HOLY!
The holiness of the Word comes from its divine author, the Lord of Heaven and earth.
TWO: It’s Christ-Centered
Paul is reminding Timothy that Scripture has the transformative power to change lives. It has the ability to thwart foolishness and deliver wisdom so we can live a reality-based life and embed God’s truth in our very soul.
THREE: It’s God-Breathed
The Word of God—both the Old and New Testaments—is powered by the Holy Spirit, divinely inspired, and “God-Breathed.” It is designed to mold us into our very own and unique spiritual shape that will unveil our life purpose and produce good works for God’s Kingdom.
I ask God every day to remind me that his Word is an active and inspired roadmap to find my purpose in life.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Is the Bible passive or active in your life today?
“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4
