It took a long time for me to understand this lesson, but eventually I heard God’s message that growing our faith positions us to have others see Christ through who we are and what we do.
It’s God’s power of MULTIPLICATION that uses our spiritual maturity to touch someone else who then can be used by him to touch others for Christ.
But we’ll miss out on those opportunities and our responsibility to seize them if we are fixated with a singular focus on ourselves.
That’s why we need to set aside our personal interests so we can look around for other people who need to see the Lord in action.
Blowing up self is the only way we will ever be able to befriend others, shoulder their burdens, and help them just as Jesus did for us. But how can we handle someone else’s burden when we are fixated on and gripping to our own self interests?
My approach to that end is to continually ask God to subordinate my SELFISHNESS and amplify my AWARENESS of the people I encounter and help me identify what they need to see or hear from him through me.
