Are You 100% Sure DRAGONS Are Cool?

Dragons are TRENDING.

  • Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion are stars on the Games Of Thrones.
  • Every culture seems to have a dragon in its myths.
  • Stories for children feature dragons–think Puff the Magic Dragon or Smaug in The Hobbit.

We love dragons because they allow our imagination to soar. We love DRAGONS because they can fly. We love DRAGONS because they are powerful and mysterious.

That’s why I was not surprised when this question came in from our global online tribe: I like dragons but why do they scare me.

Being entertained by dragons is ok if we know the REAL STORY—that Satan is a great DRAGON. A saboteur who wants to shape any part of our life to his evil ends. An enemy who can damage the rhythmic cadence of our once-strong faith walk.

Life is filled with dragons that are financial, relational, spiritual, and emotional attacks on our walk with Jesus.

But no matter how the DRAGONS of life confront us, we have a hero ready to rescue us from calamity. Not a hero from Greek mythology or fairy-tale folklore,  but a risen Christ who has fought on our behalf and conquered the dragons that seek to destroy us.

The Lord of Heaven and earth has slayed the DRAGON. Hacked hell. Destroyed the domination of evil.

The DRAGON’S destructive forces of this broken world are no match for the God of Heaven and earth. The moment we realize that the DRAGONS of life are too big for us is the moment we can begin to rest in Christ’s rescue.

“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 2:15

I thank God for slaying the dragons of life on my behalf. It adds yet another layer to my trust of him for everything.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What DRAGONS are chasing you around in life right now? Try calling on Christ to SPECIFICALLY kill them off.

“And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Revelation 20:10
