There is a PROMISE from God that, early in my own faith walk, I flat-out IGNORED. It is a PROMISE unlike any other because its DEEP CANYON creates a forever-endless and always-beckoning heaven, EVERYWHERE…for you and me and all believers. Here it is:
“I will be their God.” Jeremiah 32:38
No matter what happens in our life, we will NEVER, EVER reach the bottom of God’s endless canyon of love and grace. “I will be their God” means he will be MY God…and he will be YOUR God. Park on that promise for an extra beat right now and say wow.
Gliding past this “I will be your God” PROMISE without stopping to fully drink it in means our hunger for heaven will be marginalized. We won’t think about the glory in heaven because, somehow, we figure, it will fall short of our earthly life. We need to realize what God promises:
“However, as it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—the things God has prepared for those who love him…” 1 Corinthians 2:9
It’s one of the most majestic of all truths that God is, right now, OUR GOD. But it’s not in the way or to the degree that it will be. Take a look:
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
Thinking about God’s PROMISE—I will be your God—should launch our faith into the stratosphere and wipe out any and all things that may be standing between us and him today. DRINK THIS IN:
“They will be my people, and I will be their God. 39 I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. 41 I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.” Jeremiah 32:38-41
I want to always remember and forever embrace God’s promise to b your promise to be MY God.
