Comments from this ministry’s tribe of 1.1 Million online followers around the world are overwhelming positive for our 2021 series on committing to SPIRITUAL IMPERATIVES—what must be done. Not what we want to do or should do or try to do. What we MUST do. In January that was RELEASE CONTROL TO GOD. The imperative for February was REJECT THE WORLD. I am thankful that the faith walk of so many believers has been strengthened by this approach and pray that the imperative for March–RECOGNIZE OUR INADEQUACY—has a transforming impact on your spiritual growth.
A good starting point for this imperative is to understand that our own wisdom and intelligence are always, completely, and forever INADEQUATE. We need to get comfortable with that reality and never veer from its important truth. It’s worth re-reading before confronting what inadequate means:
in·ad·e·quate: Lacking the quality or quantity required; insufficient for a purpose.
Failing to recognize our inadequacy will cause us to ignore or DISTORT what God’s Word teaches us about the issues of life—big and small alike. That’s why we must know God’s wisdom and share it with people who will otherwise suffer the consequences of rejecting the only truth that can save them.
dis·tort: To pull or twist out of shape. To give a misleading or false account or impression.
The ability to reach that goal can easily be hijacked by our arrogant and false sense of truth that tells us the Enemy’s lie that WE are adequate and distorts GOD’S sacred truths that prove only he is adequate.
The Apostle Paul was able to beat back that lie.
“But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
Paul was a balanced Christian who made the leap from knowing God’s Word to living God’s Word. In the process he shattered the enemy’s lies about him being adequate and illuminated the Lord’s truths that God is the only source of our strength.
I ask God to help me know his wisdom and truth so I can live a Christ-like life and share his Good News with people who will otherwise suffer the consequences of rejecting him.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you trusting GOD’S TRUTH or your own?
“Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.” 1 Corinthians 3:18
