I have been a Christian for nearly 20 years and have always struggled with fear. The best I can do is keep fear at bay. How do I get rid of fear?
Your question hits close to home for me. The word FEAR is in this ministry’s name–Love God FEAR Nothing—because I struggled mightily with it early in my faith walk.
The good news?
God has since helped me erect a FEAR FENCE around my life.
Like all fences, it does not keep everything out all of the time. But it definitely keeps fear from damaging how I live and serve God.
So the first part of my response to this tribe member is we never “get rid of fear.”
This is hardly a surprise. The world is wallowing in worry.
Millions of people are worrying right now about life and money and the Corona virus and relationships and the future and more.
But there’s nothing new about this worry war.
The word UNCERTAINTY grew from a baby at its birth in the 14th Century to a 21st Century behemoth today.
The damage done by fear-based uncertainty barely needs mention because we KNOW it all too well—cynicism; depression; anger; hate; escapism; and, well, you know the rest.
The Enemy floods our soul with fear by casting doubt on God’s power to help us fence out fear. He works diligently to sell us the lie that our fears are too big or too small for God.
How do we build a FEAR FENCE?
LOVE.
“There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear…” 1 John 4:18
I ask God to help me build and maintain a FEAR FENCE in my life. To give me the wisdom to know that fear will always knock on my door. To strengthen me to fight off Satan’s LIES with his TRUTH.
