The very essence of a believer’s life is having the Holy Spirit dwelling in them. Take a look at how Paul puts it:
“But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; instead, you live as the Spirit tells you to—if, in fact, God’s Spirit lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” Romans 8:9
The more God’s Word transforms our life, the more we know that the Holy Spirit is dwelling in us. The more we emulate Christ, the more we know that the God has taken residence in our life. And the more we LEAN ON God, the more confident we are that the Holy Spirit has truly invaded our soul.
OK, GREAT…NOW WHAT?
We will know the reality of Christ’s presence if we are depending on the Lord. If we want Christ to be dwelling in us, we must LEAN ON HIM.
We cannot put off trusting God by waiting for a “special feeling” or “bright light” or “big bang” to reveal our consciousness of Christ’s presence. God is there for us right now through our trust in him, and he will not bail out. If we stay with him, he will stay with us.
IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE
Too much focus on the Gospel and its doctrinal tenets can limit awareness of the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, a singular focus on the Holy Spirit can minimize the Gospel of Christ. Balancing the two—depth in the Gospel and fullness of the Holy Spirit—is a believer’s goal because they produce catalytic energy and power through their union.
I ask God for help transforming my life through his Holy Spirit dwelling in me and to give me the courage to LEAN on him in all things.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
