This has always been a significant challenge for me. That’s why I am constantly on the lookout for signs that my “FRETTING” is disguising opportunities to see people and situations that need my Christ-like intervention.
The fretting I’m referring to in this scenario covers anything and everything that puts the focus on me and my worries, anxieties, fear, and pain. Anything and everything that keeps me from God because I am concentrating on how things aren’t “going right” or like I had envisioned. Anything and everything that could be considered selfish.
For me, staying out of that dangerous quicksand requires my diligent attention to anything that is disguising opportunities to activate my faith and make a difference.
A difference for the kid curled up in a quivering ball of fear.
A difference for the stressed-out man sleeping with his back to the one he loves.
And a difference for the frightened girl shivering in the night air on her cold and damp concrete carpet.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
Are you fretting right now over things that are disguising opportunities to make a difference in somebody’s life that God would have you see and seize?
