God says fear is unacceptable, yet we still fall prey to this powerful foe!
Fear is a natural, human reaction to our surroundings and the machinations of living. It is not possible to completely remove it from our life. But we can stop thinking we can control things by being fearful.
Yet our culture has taught us that fear is part of the package we get in life. We are told to endure the constant pressure of life’s uncertainty and to keep trying hard so we can eventually prevail.
NONSENSE!
We can’t be full of hope when we’re wracked with worry trying to drive through life’s fear fog. Living with fear destroys our potential in Christ. Fear makes it impossible to be content with what we have. Fear gives our steering wheel over to the circumstances of life.
I’m turning my steering wheel over to God by asking him to help me obey his command to be strong and courageous. To help me believe–truly believe–that my fears can be taken away by him. To help me know that nothing is too difficult for him.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Identify your biggest fear and declare it dead in Christ’s name. And then keep making that same declaration every day for one week. Keep doing it, even if you don’t believe it’s true. One week. Try it. Start now. Start today.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
