A FLYWHEEL stores energy and tension to be released later. Think of a SPINNING TOY that is wound up to create and store power and momentum that send it whirling when released. Here’s the connection between FLYWHEELS and FAITH.
GOD’S LOVE is a FLYWHEEL in the heart of a believer that must be regularly charged so it can release energy when called upon. No charge, no energy. No energy, no power to release. A flywheel loaded (by God) delivers energy at rates well beyond the ability of an uncharged power source (us).
The power of God’s LOVE is not automatically stored in Christians with enough energy to be released later when it’s needed.
We must intentionally load God’s energy into our FAITH FLYWHEEL over time, and then release it as life calls for its power and when God presents an opportunity to shine his light on others. When we do that, we release a power that far exceeds anything possible on our own power.
Any time we put off loading our FAITH FLYWHEEL, we lose TWICE: 1) We will miss the need or opportunity to release his love when it’s needed; and 2) We will miss creating momentum for the next encounter with our Lord…and the next…and the next.
WHY do we need to load our FAITH FLYWHEEL with God’s love?
Because without God’s love loaded into our FAITH FLYWHEEL: We will always stumble on our own when life throws challenge after challenge on our path. We will always stumble on our own when it comes to loving others who seem to be unlovable. And we will always stumble on our own when doubt, worry, and fear pay a visit.
HOW do we load our FAITH FLYWHEEL with God’s love?
Start with Psalm 119: “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11
Then move to Romans 15:13 where the Apostle Paul tells us how to load up on God’s HOPE.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13
I ask God to strengthen my commitment to load my FAITH FLYWHEEL every day with his truths and LOVE so it is stored up as energy that can be used when needed and introduce him to others in a way that gives 100% of the GLORY to HIM.
