Luke Skywalker’s famous line from the Star Wars canon–Confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi, YOUR destiny—is profoundly and palpably powerful. But it cannot stand up against the Bible’s insightful FaithWalker verse: “For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
One of the most important lessons I learned as a new Christian was to be a FaithWalker.
Looking back through the tattered pages of my raw, hand-written journals reveals the full story. I was afraid of everything. Not on the outside. I was a successful CEO and walking with a confident swagger, driving a fast sportscar, and living in a mansion. But I was afraid because I was living by sight, not faith.
Faith is the heart of Christianity and most believers understand that the Christian life is made possible by God’s grace through our faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).
If we are not FaithWalkers walking by faith day-in and day-out, we are not emulating Jesus. We are living a dangerous, machine-like life focused on doing what we think Christians are supposed to do.
God sees through that sham and wants to know what happened to our faith because “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).
That’s why I committed to be a FaithWalker.
Being a FaithWalker and not living by sight means venturing into UNKNOWN and scary territory. Early in my faith walk I did not realize that God will shine his light on our path in the Zone Of Unknown IF we walk in surrendered obedience.
Being a FaithWalker demands that we follow God’s direction even when we are knocked out of our comfort zone’s comfortable chair.
Being a FaithWalker builds spiritual muscles that activate God’s power to have us walk in his grace, live without fear, and move mountains.
FaithWalkers trust God so he can do in and through them what they could never even dream of, let alone complete.
I ask God to make me a FaithWalker. To help me have the confidence–his confidence–to walk by faith and not sight.
