I Dropped Off My Dented Life And It Came Back New

I love restoration shows on television! I’m ALL IN if a story delivers on three ACTS:

ACT I     Start with something run down or not operating as it should.

ACT II    Develop some kind of restoration strategy and action plan.

ACT III   Conclude with a dramatic reveal of the “new” prize.

Just yesterday I wondered “where is that thought coming from?”

God showed me that this persistent restoration metaphor in my life mirrors Christ’s restorative power to rescue us when we are feeling down or facing a challenge and need God’s intervening touch of grace.

Needing a “God Restoration” in our life is not an IF question—it’s a WHEN certainty.

It could come from nothing more than trying to live in our up and down world of pressure and stress. Or it could come from something bigger like a debilitating financial setback, addiction, abuse, traumatic event, infidelity, eating disorder, childhood confusion and pain, sexual sins, feelings of unworthiness, physical challenges, or low self-esteem. And that’s the short list.

When I need a “God Restoration,” I activate his restoring hand by taking these three steps:

TOSS IT TO GOD

Give him the pain or challenge to get his direction and discernment.

TAKE ACTION

Commit to take action and then bathe it in unceasing prayer.

APPLICATION

Apply the learning and share it with others so the blessings multiply.

Restoration is frightening! But so is enduring the pain produced by whatever is causing the need for relief.

Remember, God is in the life restoration business! Heck, he wants to make it even better than it was before.

For me, I ask God to motivate me to share my heart with him regularly to expose areas of my life that need restoration. Once I receive his direction, I pray for him to stir me to action and then have me share my learning with others who need restoration.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What part of your life needs restoration? Attitudes…Actions…Anger…Anxiety…Addiction…Apathy? What is it for you? Does it start with a B? Or a G? Or an R? Or…

“Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Hey, like this? Why not share it with a buddy?
