Christians are the light of the world, right?
Yep.
“You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8
We need to continually remind ourselves of that truth and its huge responsibility because we are living with millions of people lost in the abyss of spiritual darkness.
Before we can be a light to others, we must take a serious look at our own life and ask God to reveal anything and everything that must be realigned with his purpose and plan.
Once we hear that from God, we can drop to our knees and seek forgiveness so our light can be restored and used by him. And it will.
If we let God’s light shine through us, he will direct it to darkness that he already knows about. It might be far away or it might be stunningly close to us. Figuring out the target for our light is not our job. We just need to keep our eyes on Jesus and in obedient trust allow him to shape and deploy our unique and powerful light.
As I have written many times before, you may be the only representative of Jesus for someone on earth living in the darkness right now.
That’s why I continually ask God to lead me to his light. To steer me every day toward his powerful Word of truth. And, most importantly, to remind me that my value is already determined in Christ.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Is your light shining right now?
“For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5
