God could never forgive my past and I’m certainly no theologian. Deep down I’m just no good…God can’t use ME.
Have you ever had thoughts like those?
I certainly have, and they produced a painful cycle of despair where I felt inadequate in God’s eyes. I felt guilty, too, because I hadn’t prayed. I hadn’t read the Bible. I hadn’t “been good.” Those crazy thoughts led me to figure, “God will surely use somebody else.”
It was a breeding ground for ever-growing thoughts of inadequacy that formed a negative and myopic view of my worth to God and his Kingdom. IT’S A LIE!
DO WE REALLY MEAN IT?
We say “use me Lord…use me!” But do we mean it? Could it be that if we meant it we would have done something—anything—to get started so God can have something to work with?
My approach is to rely on God to destroy the voice that tells me I am inadequate and cannot be used by him to help others claim his promises and his grace, love, and hope.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone and be used by God? Remember, he does not ask us to destroy the darkness and chase away our thoughts of inadequacy to serve him. He only asks us to jettison our fear and make a move!
We know that despite our best-laid plans, setbacks are inevitable. But they still produce angst, extreme doubt about our self-worth, and muddle our relationships in life. Yep, fear of failure is not easy to accept, especially when God tells us NOT TO FEAR 365 times in the Bible!
