Hey, I prayed. I’m right with God. I sacrificed everything for you, Lord. And my prayers went unanswered. What gives?
That very real thread just now ran across the cinema of my mind and interrupted the beat of my heart. Yes, today. Right now as the year turns toward its fade to black and there is no sign of relief from my financial dead-end.
But then sent me this NEWS FLASH which is the message I have been telling everyone reading my Love God Fear Nothing posts for the past 18 months since launching this ministry:
Set aside your EXPECTATIONS, Mark, and LISTEN carefully so you are able to hear what God is saying to you through your disappointment. What can you learn? What might God be saying?
The book of Amos in the Old Testament describes a “famine of hearing the words of the Lord.” The people needed revival and were suffering divine judgment. They were without food and water and without a message from God, malnourished in every way. They were desperate for nourishment, but they could not have it. How different it is for us today. We have complete access to nourishment from God, but we push our plate away.
If we regularly nourish our spirits with God’s words, it is possible to be sustained when worry strikes.
So that’s what I am doing today as I struggle with unmet expectations. I will seek nourishment from the Lord. I will set aside what I think ought to happen. And I will trust him completely…for everything.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
When things don’t go as planned and your prayerful expectations are not met, do you turn up the volume of God’s voice and listen intently to hear what he wants you to hear?
