It’s true–I fought off transferring all the power to God for a couple of decades!

It was a painful and untidy process to be sure, but the breakthrough finally came when I realized either we give God ALL the power or we give him NONE.

Transferring power in business and government is messy at minimum and outright mayhem on the pole’s other end. Superstar athletes at the end of their dominance have a difficult time stepping away.

Why should we expect our transfer of power to God to be any different?

In fact, this is one of the most difficult—but IMPERATIVE—things we will ever do in our life. Walking with faith is driven by our obedience and trust in God for all things. But so much of it is compromised when we haven’t fully transferred power to him. When we get that done, everything else comes into focus and reveals clear pathways and power to connect with Christ and walk closely with him through whatever might come our way.

That’s why I pray for God to keep me from trying to regain power from him and to help me continually yield my life’s direction to his custody and care.

“Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear.” Job 11:13-15
